I am planning to tour Classical Greece in 2019 I never meant to go back to Europe, but this looks like a good trip. Ancient Greece is the cradle of western civilization. I got my third passport.
I talked to Cynthia Griffin at Globus Monograms. She said there is a direct flight to Athens from Philadelphia. The Greece Escape is $799. It looks like I am headed for Greece. Cynthia has tours scheduled between November and March.

Rick Steves in Greece - Athens was the center of Europe in the 5th century B.C. The real Parthenon sits on the Acropolis. It was dedicated to the goddess Athena. The adjacent Erechtheum was dedicated to Athena and Poseidon. The Agora is nearby. We think of Socrates and Plato. The temple of Hephaestus is well-preserved. Greek architecture evolved in stages: Doric, Ionic & Corinthian. Ancient Greece peaked and faded as all civilizations do. Rick Steve samples the local cuisine. The Greeks won their independence from the Ottoman Turks in the early 1800s. Rick visits the National Archaelogical Museum. Statues are idealistic. Alexander the Great ruled during the Hellenistic period. Rick heads for the Oracle of Delphi. The temple of Apollo is there. Leaders consulted the Oracle. There is a theater for games.
